Mission and Business Services
Mission and Location
The Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Illinois is a not for profit corporation established under the laws of the State of Illinois (PRCCI). The mission of the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Illinois is to develop, assist, and promote Hispanic business interests, and other businesses in the State of Illinois.
PRCCI has been in existence since 1963 and continues to serve the business community into the 21st century. We are located at 2622 West Division Street in the heart of Chicago's Paseo Boricua/Puerto Rico Town.
Our business resource center provides invaluable business information and assistance in the areas of capital funding, financial planning, insurance, business planning, marketing, and technology. PRCCI has established a network of professionals who volunteer their time in order to help businesses succeed in their business goals. Soon we will be offering assistance with MBE/WBE city certification.
In order to promote technology use in business, we have developed the Business Technology Center (BTC). The BTC exists to assist entrepreneurs and small businesses with access to the resources that they need to grow and attain long-term success. The BTC, acting as a proving ground for technology applications and utilization, will serve to stimulate small business formation, growth, and survival. High-speed Internet access is available during business hours to businesses that wish to use the center for research and business planning purposes. PRCCI members have access to business services and discounts from PRCCI and companies including:
- PRCCI Business Technology Center
- PRCCI Resource Center
- American Express Financial Planning
- Business-Legal publications from the law firm of Ross Hardies
PRCCI is a delegate agency to the City of Chicago's Business Express Program. Business Express is the Chicago business community's link to city and community-based programs that solve business problems. Business people who call our office or 311 are referred to a Business Express account manager who provides prompt, accurate, problem solving information
Promotion and Networking Opportunities
PRCCI hosts a variety of events that serve to promote and stimulate business growth during economic booms and recessionary times. These events include regularly scheduled membership meetings and networking events at various business locations. Other opportunities for promotion and networking include the Annual Latino Business Opportunities Conference at University of Illinois Circle Campus and the presentation of the PRCCI Business Pavilion and Expo at the Puerto Rican Day Festivities in Humboldt Park. Also, members of PRCCI are invited to join us at the Annual United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Convention and Business Expo in Los Angelos, California. Please visit our Chamber Events Calendar for more information on any of our membership and networking events
Business Training & Workshop
PRCCI promotes community entrepreneurship by partnering with the Humboldt Park Vocational Center, Greater North Pulaski Development Corporation, other participating institutions and non-profit partners, in providing the NxLeveL Entrepreneurial Training Program to individuals interested in starting their own business. Our own Executive Director teaches one of the NxLeveL sessions titled, "Using Excel for cash flow projections". PRCCI also hosts several workshops during the year on various business topics such as, access to capital, financial planning, and insurance.
PRCCI has recently been appointed as the north side contact for the Lakefront Redevelopment (Soldier Field Renovation) outreach project. Those individuals and companies in the construction trades can contact our office for more information. PRCCI will soon receive assist agency status from the City of Chicago Department of Procurement, which will allow us to provide assistance to companies and individuals wishing to participate in the City of Chicago's Procurement Program.
Business Research & Market Studies
Through our Business Technology Center, businesses now have access to information and tools needed to run a successful business. We have access to licensing information and business forms with Federal, State, and Local agencies on the web that can be downloaded and printed from our office. Also contact and bid opportunities with the Chicago Department of Procurement can be accessed through our center.
We are working with local universities to commission a study on the economic, political, and educational status of the Puerto Rican community in Illinois to further the economic interests of Puerto Ricans living in Illinois and aboard. PRCCI has been selected by the Puerto Rican Parade Committee of Chicago to coordinate a market study of attendees at this year's Puerto Rican Day Festivities in Humboldt Park.
